When summer approaches, most of us start planning our summer holidays in the Greek islands to enjoy their crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches.

But there is an area in Greece that may not be an island but has nothing to envy from them. So let’s get to know the continent of the sea, with the beautiful beaches and the green vegetation reaching to the shores.

Coming to the western coast of Epirus, which is easy now because of the road axis that has been improved, starting from Preveza to Sagiada Thesprotia, you meet the coastal part that stretches for about 100 km.

Here one meets wonderful beaches that continue uninterrupted for tens of kilometers or picturesque, isolated bays with turquoise, crystal clear waters that have nothing to envy from exotic destinations!

The coastline of Epirus offers unique thrills with dreamy beaches and a nature that enchants you with its beauty. It is ideal for summer roadtrip or even to stay in one of the coastal villages, if you want to avoid unnecessary travel .

Choosing as a base the city of Preveza for accommodation, at a distance of only 10 km, is the beach of Monolithi which spreads over a length of 25 km. It is considered the longest beach in the European Union and there you can find the holiday villages Mytika, Kanali and Kastrosykia. There are many options for each guest! Organized beach with beach bar, coffee loungers and food, but also calmer situations for anyone who wishes to spread his towel on the sand somewhere more lonely . The waters of the Ionian Sea, crystal clear and deep, are ideal for those who love to play with the waves, while offering special moments to families and groups seeking relaxation . The beauty of the beach is complemented by the aesthetic Monolithi Forest which is about 8 km long.

Almost next to Monolithi is the ancient Nicopolis, “the city of victory”, built by Octavian Augustus for his victory over Mark Antony and Cleopatra in the great naval Battle of Actium . You can easily combine your tour of the archaeological site with a swim in the sea !

The 25 km of the beach runs parallel to the National Road Igoumenitsa-Preveza and has many exits to the sea. In several places you can find picturesque holiday villages, where you can sit in picturesque taverns and enjoy delicious homemade food and of course the famous fresh fish of the Ionian Sea. Let’s not forget that the sea whets the appetite!
